Vandalism to the restroom facilities at Yahoo Falls Picnic Area was recently discovered by National Park Service staff. Although the facilities contained nothing of value to the vandals, much costly damage was done, requiring expensive repairs. Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area Superintendent Niki Stephanie Nicholas said it was unfortunate that money from other projects will now have to be used to repair the senseless destruction. Superintendent Nicholas went on to say that, if the vandalism continues, a gate will be placed on the access road to the Yahoo Falls area and will be closed during periods of low use such as at night or during the winter months. With the help of concerned citizens, this action may not be necessary. The National Park Service cares for special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage.
