Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be hosting the 8th annual American Hiking Society's "Volunteer Vacation in the Park" this coming June. Each year volunteers from all walks of life and from all over the country sign up for this fantastic program. They take their vacation time to build and maintain our nation's trails. They come prepared to camp out and work out. They bring with them their love of nature, enthusiasm, eagerness to make a difference and a smile. For the last few years, the Vacation Volunteers have worked on the Twin Arches Trail repairing the tread, building steps and digging drain ditches. In 2012, they built a dozen foot-bridges, a set of stairs and cleared vegetation on Twin Arches and Slave Falls trails.
