The National Park Service is sponsoring the Haunting in the Hills Student Art Contest to celebrate the creative spirit of the youth in our gateway communities and the inspiration and legacy of the Big South Fork. Student artwork will be featured in an exhibit at the Bandy Creek Education Center, and there will be a special reception on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). The art contest is open to all 5th grade students attending any school associated with one of the gateway community school districts near Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The grand prize winner's artwork will also be featured on the cover of a CD showcasing stories from this past year's Storytelling Festival.

In additional to individual student work, teachers are also encouraged to organize submissions of art for their students. All artwork must be original and should communicate a connection to the Big South Fork's natural or cultural history. For more information or entry forms, visit the park's website at www.nps.gov/biso. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form and received by Thursday, November 8, 2012.
