Please join NPS Ranger Bill Herman at the Blue Heron Campground Campfire Circle at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) to experience first-hand the fascinating world of many familiar and not so familiar insects, spiders and other arthropods that crawl and fly around us. This program consists of an easy (less than a half mile), 45-minute sunset stroll searching amongst trees, weeds, and stones to find and enjoy many of the six- and eight-legged animals that live here on the Cumberland Plateau. Warmer weather always provides park visitors with best opportunities for observing the unique behaviors of insects and their closest relatives. Would you like to learn how to distinguish a male lightning bug (firefly) from a female one from over a hundred yards away? Do you ever wonder what might be lurking under a rotten log? If so, come join the experience! Everyone is welcome. There is no charge to attend this program.
