Due to the significant amounts of rain which have fallen in recent days, park officials have lifted the ban on open fires in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Superintendent Reed E. Detring announced the lifting ban today, noting that the ban had been successful in its efforts to reduce the likelihood of wildfires within Big South Fork NRRA. In addition Superintendent Detring wished to thank all the park’s visitors and neighbors for their understanding and cooperation in this matter. |
