On Saturday, July 19, join Ranger Sue Duncan as she presents her “Snake Tales” program. For a number of people, snakes have a bad reputation but most varieties of snakes are quite harmless. Ranger Duncan will talk about some of the myths that surround snakes. She will also introduce a few of her “friends.” Everyone is invited to attend this free program. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) at the Woodland Fire Circle behind Area B in the Bandy Creek Campground. In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Bandy Creek Visitor Center; please bring a chair. On July 19 and 20, Park Guide Shauna Delk will talk about plants you may find in your backyard. Is it a weed or is it an herb? Will it help you or will it harm you? What is the history of these plants? Where can I find them? This program is the first in a series of four on wildcrafting. It is suitable for all ages. On Saturday, Ranger Delk will present the program at 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Bandy Creek Visitor Center. On Sunday, the program will take place at 3:00 p.m. EDT at the Scott County Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center, located on Highway 27 just north of the junction of highways 27 and 63.
