The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and Historic Rugby are co-sponsoring a clean-up day to focus on the old Brewster Bridge area on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Start the day at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) by meeting at the picnic area parking lot near the old Brewster Bridge below the new bridge (off Highway 52 on the west side of Rugby). Breakfast sandwiches and beverages will be available. Volunteers should wear sturdy boots, long pants and long sleeve shirts, and bring water, insect repellent and gloves. Trash bags and trash grabbers will be provided.

The old Brewster Bridge picnic area is a popular day use area that includes a canoe launch on the Clear Fork of the Cumberland River. The old bridge is of concrete deck grider construction and was built in 1930 to replace the old Brewster Ferry which served as the western entrance to the Historic Rugby community.
