Big South Fork to Celebrate “Great American Outdoors Day” on August 4

Oneida, Tennessee - Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area will be observing the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Great American Outdoors Act on Monday, August 4, 2025, with 50 percent off backcountry camping permit fees.

Enjoy a night under the stars in the backcountry of the Big South Fork by obtaining a backcountry camping permit in person at one of our contact stations or online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/353488124. These permits are good for a stay of up to 14 days.

The Great American Outdoors Act was signed into law on August 4, 2020, providing national parks and public lands with critical funding for infrastructure and maintenance needs. Big South Fork continues to benefit from this legislation through improved facilities and expanded recreational opportunities.
