Contact: Letitia Neal, (423) 569-9778 Contact: Christopher Derman Join Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area and Obed Wild & Scenic River to celebrate the National Park Service 101st birthday on Friday, August 25.Come see a unique perspective of Obed through photography during the sixth annual photo contest reveal starting at 5 p.m. (ET) at Obed Visitor Center, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg. The event will include a display of photographs from the recent Obed photography contests as well as the winners for the 2017 contest from five categories: fauna, flora, landscapes, artistic, and youth. Music and light refreshments will be provided. Enjoy a free night under the stars at Alum Ford Campground or by camping in one of many backcountry campsites in the Big South Fork NRRA. Alum Ford Campground offers a tranquil camping experience near the edge of the Big South Fork River on the Kentucky side of the park. There are six campsites with grills, picnic tables, and lantern hooks as well as accessible vault toilets. Nearby attractions include the Sheltowee Trace Trail, Yahoo Falls, and Blue Heron.
