Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is pleased to announce that all camping facilities are open for use. During the winter months a limited number of sites are available at the Bandy Creek Campground. Closing unused portions of the campground allows those facilities to be winterized, thereby saving significant amounts of funds on utility costs. With the coming of warmer weather, these areas are now opened in time for springtime campers.
Camping is provided at the Bandy Creek Campground and Bandy Creek Group Camp in Tennessee, the Blue Heron and Alum Ford Campgrounds in Kentucky, and at the concession operated Station Camp and Bear Creek Horse Camps. These campgrounds offer a range of camping possibilities from primitive tent camping to sites with water, electricity, and modern bathhouses.
For more information on any of these facilities, call the Bandy Creek Visitor Center at (423) 286-7275.
Reservations for Bandy Creek and Blue Heron Campgrounds and Bandy Creek Group Camp may be made at (877) 444-6777 or on the web at www.recreation.gov. Alum Ford Campground is on a first come, first served arrangement and no reservations are taken. Reservations for the Bear Creek and Station Camp Horse Camps may be made by calling (423) 569-3321.
