Visitors with mobility impairments can access the visitor centers, restrooms throughout the preserve, campgrounds, and boardwalks.
A great way to experience Big Cypress is to do so on one of the many accessible boardwalks. The all boardwalks in the Preserve are wheelchair accesible and less than one (1) mile in distance. Big Cypress National Preserve provides a variety of services to accommodate those with hearing enhancement needs. A variety of publications may be obtained at both visitor centers. Wayside exhibits with illustrations and text on natural and cultural features are situated throughout the Preserve and in the vistitor centers. Films and short videos shown at the Nathaniel P. Reed Visitor Center, and the Oasis Visitor Center include captioning. For visitors with visual impairments, the Nathaniel P. Reed Visitor Center presents audio recordings of Preserve stakeholders. Both Visitor Centers offer the 22-minute preserve film that provides lots of background information on the area. There are also various tactile opportunities to experience the displays. There are some printed materials available in Braile. We are also featured in the NPS Audio Description Tours app. Large print and clear signs are displayed. |
