Arctic Fox

Arctic Fox walking through snow

The arctic fox travels great distances across its range throughout the year. During the winter, it crosses the sea ice to feed on the remains of seals killed by polar bears. A specialized blood circulation in the fox's paws and a thick fur coat protect it from the cold as it travels. The fox will sometimes completely cross the Bering Strait during these journeys!
