Alcove House used to be called Ceremonial Cave but since it was never ceremonial or a cave the name was changed in the early 2000's. This image, from 1940, is of the kiva in Alcove House. Kivas are ceremonial places and many are found in Bandelier.

Work was underway in 2013 to repair the roof of the kiva at Alcove House. The park hopes to complete the work in 2017.
