We're having a virtual party for National Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 18th!

Play along with us. Think about how you would finish this sentence:

I will protect Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore by.................................

When you have your answer, get creative at home and share it by

  • Writing a few words or a paragraph
  • Drawing a picture
  • Creating a 3D work of art
  • Snapping a photo
  • Crafting a poem or haiku
  • Filming a movie
  • Or...the sky is the limit!

Get your digital certificate and badges! On April 18th, email the rangers at slbe_education@nps.gov and briefly describe what you created. And, if you'd like, share your creation online using #ShareSLBE and email us a link to the social media post. Rangers will send you a digital certificate and badge that you can print at home.

Your final step to becoming a Junior Ranger is being sworn in by a park ranger. On Saturday, April 18th, tune in at 3 pm EST on the National Lakeshore’s social media for a virtual swearing in ceremony. We're having a video watch party debuting our new Junior Ranger pledge created in celebration of the National Lakeshore’s 50th anniversary.

April 18th is also the first day of National Park Week. The National Lakeshore is participating daily in National Park Week from April 18th-26th. Visit the Lakeshore’s social media pages for daily themes and online activities celebrating National Park Week. More information on National Park Week can be found at www.nps.gov/subjects/npscelebrates/national-park-week.htm
