Are you learning about the Santa Fe Trail to commemorate the 200th anniversary? With this activity you can apply your knowledge and learn even more about the trail!

There are books about the trail for people of all ages! Check out these great lists to find Santa Fe Trail books so you can use your new bookmark!

Supplies

  • Printer paper or cardstock
  • Printer or ability to print
  • Markers, crayons, colored pencils, or whatever drawing utensils you have
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick or tape
  • Or, complete a digital version of the bookmark using digital photos & text

Directions

  1. Print the Bookmark Template
  2. Go to nps.gov/safe and learn about people, places, and things on the Santa Fe Trail
  3. Choose a person, place, or thing to include on the front of your bookmark
    • Draw the person, place, or thing in the oval space on the Front of your bookmark
    • Write the name of the person, place, or thing in the banner under the oval
    • Write what you learned about the person, place, or thing in the blank space below the banner
  4. Read about the Santa Fe National Historic Trail on nps.gov/safe
    • Write what you learned about the trail in the top box on the Back side of your bookmark
    • Draw a map of the Santa Fe Trail in the bottom box on the Back side of your bookmark
  5. Cut out the Front and Back sides
  6. Glue or tape the sides together
