Route 66: Historic Building Inventories

Before local communities, property owners, cultural resource managers, and others begin Route 66 preservation efforts, it is helpful to understand what historic properties remain in the community or region. Historic building inventories identify extant Route 66-related properties, and can help direct and prioritize preservation efforts. Route 66 Historic Property Inventories have been conducted in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, with inventory efforts currently underway in California. All survey’s are available from the NPS Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program, and State Historic Preservation Offices. Inventories that are available in digital format are listed below for your reference.
