Puma Profiles: P-95

Close up of mountain lion.

Male
Initial capture date: Jan. 16, 2021

This male mountain lion was captured in the central Santa Monica Mountains and found to be in good condition. At the time of his capture, he was estimated to be about 1.5 years old and weighed 90 pounds.

While biologists were conducting a full workup on him, which includes collecting blood, tissue and other biological samples and checking him out from the bottom of his paws to the top of his head, a “chirping” was heard nearby. Another mountain lion was later spotted. It is likely that P-95 is still “traveling” with his mother or a sibling.

A GPS radio collar was placed on him. At the time of his capture, there were 10 mountain lions being tracked by NPS scientists.
