Notes on Habitats and Flora
Like neighboring Green Island, only smaller, Little Calf Island is a mass of rock outcroppings surrounded by surf. Gulls and cormorants have dominion over the island. Plant life is restricted to a few tough perennial forbs, growing in crevices and shallow soil pockets, that can survive the conditions of salt spray, minimal soil, and full exposure to the elements.
