Notes on Habitats and Flora
Green Island is a mound of rocks exposed to ocean spray. Vegetation is sparse, limited to rock crevices and guano-nourished pockets of soil. Green Island’s scanty flora consists of hardy, perennial herbaceous species that can survive the stresses of ocean spray, full exposure to the elements, and a stark mineral substrate.
