The Volunteers-In-Parks Program is now recruiting paid interns for the Winter 2025 cohort of the Community Volunteer Ambassador program. This exciting 48-week professional internship, taking place from January through December 2025, offers a unique opportunity for young adults (ages 18-30, or 18-35 for veterans) to work alongside National Park Service (NPS) staff and volunteers, helping to build stronger connections between parks and communities.

About the Program:

The CVA program, managed in partnership between the NPS Volunteers-In-Parks program and Conservation Legacy’s Stewards Individual Placement Program, aims to cultivate the next generation of conservation and community leaders.

Participants in the Winter cohort will serve at various national park sites across the country, where they will support volunteerism and engagement activities that bring parks and communities together. Among them are nine Climate Cohort sites funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, specifically focused on supporting climate resilience and education efforts within national parks. This is a great chance for individuals passionate about equity, inclusion, conservation, and community organizing to gain hands-on experience while making a real impact.

What You’ll Gain from the Community Volunteer Ambassador Program:

The CVA program offers more than just an internship—it provides a pathway to meaningful personal and professional growth. Here are some of the key benefits:

  • Real-world experience: Engage in hands-on work supporting community engagement, volunteerism, and conservation efforts.
  • Career development: Access valuable resources like the Public Land Corps hiring authority and the AmeriCorps Segal Education Award to help launch your career in conservation or public service.
  • Build your network: Work closely with National Park Service professionals, community organizations, and fellow interns to develop lasting connections.
  • Impact your community: Make a tangible difference by helping to connect the public with the parks and supporting conservation initiatives.
