Table 4

Table 4 provides statistical Kolmogorov-Smirnoff comparisons of the frequency distributions of skeletal elements found in six depositional contexts: canid scavenged, bear scavenged, beach deposited, water deposited, intentional burial, and the Kennewick recovery. Two tables are provided. The first provides the maximum differences in frequency distributions for Kolmogorov-Smirnoff comparisons in 7 columns and 7 rows. The column headers are blank, Burial, Canid, Bear, Kman, Water, and Beach. The row headers are blank, Burial, Canid, Bear, KMan, Water, and Beach. The second table provides the two-tailed probabilities of the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff comparisons. The table is set up the same as the first one.

Kolmogorov-Smirnoff two-tailed tests suggested very low probabilities of random differences between the natural agents and the Kennewick remains, as follows: canid (.0001%); bear (.0001%); water (.0006%); beach (.0053%). These results suggest a very low probability that survival of the Kennewick remains was influenced by any of these natural agents. In contrast, the probability of random differences between intentional burials and the Kennewick remains was higher (27%), which suggests that the survival of the Kennewick remains was more closely associated with a burial context that with any of the natural agents.
