Saturday, September 16th

Battlefield Hikes - Four hikes at key areas of the park following the battle as it unfolded. Each hike is about one mile in length and lasts two hours. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
  • Battle for the Cornfield and the West Woods - Starts at Tour Stop 4 at 9:30 am
  • Struggle for the Sunken Road - Starts at the Visitor Center at 12:00 pm
  • The Burnside Bridge and the Final Attack - Starts at Tour Stop 8 at 2:30 pm
  • Prelude to Battle - Starts at the Visitor Center at 6:00 pm
Ranger Guided Driving Tour - Car caravan tour of the battlefield. Follow the ranger in your vehicle to three stops. Program starts at the Visitor Center at 10:30 and lasts 2 1/2 hours.

Battlefield Orientation Talks - 30-minute overview of the Maryland Campaign. Starts at the Visitor Center at 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm.

Special Guest Lecture - Join retired National Park Service historian and author Scott Hartwig will discuss his new book "I Dread the Thought of the Place: The Battle of Antietam and the End of the Maryland Campaign." Program held at the Visitor Center starting at 1:00 pm.

Weapon Firing Demonstrations - Living history program demonstrating Civil War artillery. 45-minute program is held just outside of the Visitor Center at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Sunday, September 17th

Sunrise at Antietam - Experience sunrise on the morning of the 161st Anniversary in the famous Cornfield. Program starts at Tour Stop 4 at 6:45 am and lasts an hour.
