Red-spotted newt

NPS

There are 19 species of amphibians at Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site. Amphibians include the green frog, red-spotted newt, and marbled salamander. Amphibians are vulnerable to many different environmental impacts including disease and pollution. This is due in part to their porous eggs and semi-porous skin.
