Air Quality

Located at the summit unit of Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is an air monitoring station which collects rain and snowfall to measure acidic and mercury air pollutants. Precipitation is collected weekly and analyzed by the Pennsylvania Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring Network and the National Atmospheric Deposition Program's Mercury Deposition Network. Results are published in annual reports.
