Children earn their badges by completing the Junior Ranger Program

"Explore, Learn, and Protect!" The Junior Ranger motto is recited by children around the country; each taking an oath of their own to protect parks, continue to learn about parks, and share their own ranger story with friends and family.

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP Junior Ranger program is an activity book based program conducted on site with a book you can pick up at either of the park's visitor centers. Interested youth complete a series of activities during a park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger badge. Junior Rangers are typically between the ages of 6 to 13, although people of all ages can take part. .

You can become a Abraham Lincoln Birthplace Junior Ranger even if you are unable to visit the park. Download a Jr. Ranger Book.

*Jr. Ranger books are not issued to large groups. Please print your books in advance of your visit.
