National Park Service

Federal regulations covering all National Park Service lands are contained in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 36, Chapter 1.

National Trails System Act

Congress established the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail on March 30, 2009, through Section 5204 of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-11), amending the National Trails System Act (16 U.S.C. § 1244(a)). To guide management of the trail, the National Park Service prepared a Foundation Document that provides a vision and decision-making framework for the trail; identifies significant natural, historic, and cultural resources to be preserved; and describes cooperative relationships with state and local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private entities.

Firearms

As of February 22, 2010, federal law allows individuals who may legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws to legally possess firearms in National Park Service administered areas along the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail.

Visitors are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable federal, state, and local firearms laws before entering National Park Service administered areas.

Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities within National Park Service administered areas. These locations are marked with signs at public entrances.

For additional information about firearms laws, please visit the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) website.
