Contact: Ed Cummins, 928-567-3322 x227 National Park ServiceNews Release For Immediate Release - February 16, 2012 2012 Arizona Archaeology Awareness and Heritage Month Activities Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments have scheduled many activities throughout March to coincide with Arizona Archaeology Awareness and Heritage Month. Activities are tailored for different age groups and will take place as described below:
Participants should bring water and wear sunscreen. Also, wear clothing and footwear appropriate for an easy to moderate walk. Visitors may call the Montezuma Castle Visitor Center at (928) 567-3322 ext. 221 or Tuzigoot Visitor Center at (928) 634-5564 for more information. The Eastern collard lizard, Crotaphytus collaris, is well known for running on its hind legs at about a 45 degree angle, making it look like a small dinosaur. They are often seen at Tuzigoot National Monument.
