Tumacácori National Historical Park Superintendent Bob Love announced this week the release of the park's Draft General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment (GMP). Concluding a rigorous multi-year planning effort, the process has produced a plan that will guide management of Tumacácori for the next 15 to 20 years. The GMP will provide park managers guidance for making informed decisions about the future of park resources and visitor experiences within the park. This planning effort replaces the park's 1996 GMP.

The park values the public's thoughts and perspectives, and will provide interested parties an opportunity to review and comment on the plan. Two open house meetings will be held:

Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Tubac Center of the Arts

#9 Plaza Road
Tubac, AZ 85646
5:00 - 7:00 pm

Wednesday, March 6, 2013
Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office

2170 North Congress Drive
Nogales, AZ 85621
5:00 - 7:00 pm

For those unable to attend one of the open house meetings, you may view and comment on the GMP online. Please go to https://parkplanning.nps.gov/tuma, click on General Management Plan/Environmental Assessment, go to document list, and follow instructions for review and comment. While commenting online is preferred, two other options exist. You may mail comments to Tumacácori National Historical Park, General Management Plan, National Park Service, Denver Service Center - Erin Flanagan, P.O. Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225. Or you may drop off your comments in person at the park, located at 1891 East Frontage Road, Tumacacori, AZ 85640. Hard copies of the plan are available at the park. Comments must be received by April 5, 2013.
