Spanish soldiers or "soldados" played a pivotal role in the history of the Tumacácori Mission and surrounding area. Juan Bautista de Anza II may be the most famous for his command of the Tubac Presidio and his overland expeditions to San Francisco, but he is but one of many significant military men.
