An autopsy report released by the North Dakota State Medical Examiner's Office revealed that Daniel Olszewski, the man who passed away while hiking in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in July, had suffered a massive heart attack, which caused his death.

"Dan was an avid and well-prepared hiker," said Superintendent Valerie Naylor. "It was very sad that his death occurred in the park. After searching for him for 3 days and spending time with his family, we all feel like we knew him."

Olszewski had come to the park for a day hike and was reported missing when he did not report to work.A three day, multi-agency search resulted in the recovery of his body near the Maah Dah Hey Trail in the southwestern part of the park's South Unit.
