On Tuesday, December 6, San Juan National Historic Site will reach 27 years of being designated as a World Heritage Site by the Organization of the United Nations for the Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO). To commemorate this milestone, entrance fees to Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal will be waived to all visitors. San Juan National Historic Site, including Fortaleza was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1983. San Juan National Historic Site, is one of only 22 National Parks in the U.S. National Park Service system that have this designation. As World Heritage Site, we all need to take part in the protection and preservation of San Juan National Historic Site for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of present and future generations of visitors that represent different places of the world. "Come and enjoy your National Park and World Heritage Site by being a guest of the Park on this special day," says Superintendent Walter J. Chavez.
