Moraine Park Campground Update - September 2025

Moraine Park Campground will close for the season at noon on September 28, 2025. The last night to camp at Moraine Park Campground this summer will be September 27.

Reservations must be made online at www.recreation.gov, through the Recreation.gov Mobile App, or through the Recreation.gov Call Center at 1-877-444-6777.

The campground will close on September 28 to complete a few remaining construction items and is planned to reopen for winter camping opportunities on a first come, first serve basis on October 20. Construction work is ongoing for the Moraine Park Campground and Headquarters East Utility Rehabilitation Project. This is a critical infrastructure project that is working to improve water, wastewater and electrical distribution systems that serve Moraine Park Campground, Moraine Park Discovery Center, Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, and many other facilities.

If I Have a Campground Reservation, Will I Also Need a Timed Entry Reservation to Enter Rocky Mountain National Park?

For visitors who have an overnight camping reservation for Aspenglen, Glacier Basin, Timber Creek or Moraine Park Campgrounds, a timed entry reservation is included with your campground reservation.

Campers will be able to enter the park beginning at 1 p.m. on the first day of their camping reservation. This is also the check-in time for all RMNP campgrounds.

  • Campers who would like to enter RMNP earlier in the day will have to enter the park outside of the times of day when timed entry is in effect (for example, before 9 a.m. for most areas of the park) or they will need to make a timed entry reservation.
For additional details, see the Frequently Asked Question section below or visit RMNP's Timed Entry Webpage

Additional Things to Know When Planning a Winter Camping Trip

  • All campsites have a table, tent pad, and fire grate.
  • Campsites are not plowed or shoveled; Campers are advised to pack a shovel and be prepared to dig out your own campsite.
  • When it snows, plowing the main park roads are our number one priority. Snowplows will plow campground roads, but expect delays.
