Art and Essay Contest Winners Announced

Petrified Forest, AZ - Congratulations to the winners of the second annual Art and Essay Contest at Petrified Forest National Park. Entries were received from Mrs. Julie Wiessner’s 4th Grade students at Hulet Elementary.

ART (Grades 3-5)
1st place: Jasper McAde Frye, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary
2nd place: Angel Benitez, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary
Honorable Mention: Denyce Hawk, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary

ESSAY (Grades 3-5)
1st place: Logan Anselmo, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary
2nd place: Angel Benitez, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary
Honorable Mention: Jasper McAde Frye, Grade 4, Hulet Elementary

The 1st and 2nd place winners will receive, respectively, $50 and $25 Petrified Forest Museum Association gift certificates. Because it was such a close contest, an Honorable Mention prize will also be awarded.

All contestants and their families, as well as teachers, are invited to attend a reception in their honor at Painted Desert Inn from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1. Awards will be presented and refreshments served. The public is also invited to attend. All artwork and essays submitted for the contest will be on display at Painted Desert Inn through the month of December.
