Petrified Forest National Park continues the Artist-in-Residence program, currently in its ninth season, to provide artists opportunities to utilize the park for inspiration.Professor Brad Bachmeier is the park's current resident artist, and in celebration of Wild West Days will be offering a presentation in nearby Holbrook.

What: Professor Bachmeier will share Southwestern pottery forming and firing techniques from prehistoric through modern times, and how this has impacted contemporary potters across North America. Professor Bachmeier is a native of Anamoose, North Dakota, and currently serves as the Professor of Art Education at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Brad's ceramic works are collected nationally and has been featured on HGTVs' "That's Clever" and Prairie Public TV's "Prairie Mosaic". Brad's works are held in numerous regional and national public and private collections including the North Dakota Governor's Mansion, The Microsoft Permanent Collection, The South Dakota Museum of Art, The Plains Art Museum and Michelle Obama's office in the White House. Brad also specializes in large-scale vessels and is one of only a few dozen brick relief sculpture artists in the country.
