Hunting and Fishing Permits

An updated Tennessee Fishing License is required to fish in the Obed. Hunting is permitted in certain locations at the Obed Wild and Scenic River. Please see a park ranger or stop in at the Obed Visitor Center to get information on the permissible hunting locations within the park. Hunting is also permitted within the boundaries of the adjacent Catoosa Wildlife Management Area during scheduled hunting seasons.

Contact Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for information on both hunting and fishing in Tennessee. You may also purchase a hunting or fishing license online.

Feral hog (wild boar) hunting in Obed Wild and Scenic River is permitted only during established deer hunting seasons in Tennessee. No hog hunting permit is required. Hunters must use only the weapon type authorized for the active deer season (archery, muzzleloader or black powder, or modern firearm) in accordance with applicable state regulations. For example, during archery deer season, feral hogs may be taken only with archery equipment; during muzzleloader season, only with muzzleloaders; and during firearm season, only with legal firearms.

There is no limit on the number of feral hogs that may be harvested, and there is no extended or standalone hog hunting season outside of deer seasons. Hunters must possess a valid Tennessee hunting license, and licenses from other states are not valid. Dogs may not be used to hunt hogs.
