Effective 9.29.13: Visitor Center is CLOSED Mondays & Tuesdays. Wednesdays - Sundays, the Visitor Center will be OPEN 9 AM - 4 PM. Star Fort Pond is CLOSED 9 AM Sundays – 9 AM Tuesdays. Park grounds open dawn to dusk. Gates lock at 5 PM.
The park (including parking lot and restrooms) is closed on the following upcoming holidays: Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

Ninety Six National Historic Site Schedules Weekend Programs
NINETY SIX, South Carolina: From now until September 29, Ninety Six National Historic Site will offer free programs on the weekends.On Saturdays at 11 am, a guided walk of the battlefield will occur.At 2 pm on Sundays, a talk will be provided at the Logan Log House.Every third Saturday 10 am – 2 pm, through September 21 reenactors will gather at the Logan Log House for Living History Days.
The Saturday guided walks will begin at 11 am and last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.Covering a distance of one-mile, the level of difficulty is easy to moderate. The tours focus on military aspects including the Siege of Ninety Six.The 2 pm Sunday talks at the Logan Log House emphasize civilian life in the backcountry and will last about 30 minutes.During Living History Days, reenactors talk about backcountry living and demonstrate a variety of skills and trades such as spinning and weaving, cooking and baking, medicine, and 18th century games. Living History Days are scheduled for July 20, August 17, September 21 at 10 am – 2 pm. In March the visitor center hours were reduced until further notice. The visitor center is now closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays with the exception of July 4. The visitor center is open 10 am to 4 pm, Friday through Tuesday.Visitors may still tour the park dawn to dusk.

The Loyalist commander at Ninety Six in 1781 was Lt. Col. John Harris Cruger. He was originally from New York City & had under his command 550 men & only one British officer. The rest of the loyalist troops were born in America.
