    Effective 9.29.13: Visitor Center is CLOSED Mondays & Tuesdays. Wednesdays - Sundays, the Visitor Center will be OPEN 9 AM - 4 PM. Star Fort Pond is CLOSED 9 AM Sundays – 9 AM Tuesdays. Park grounds open dawn to dusk. Gates lock at 5 PM.

Ninety Six National Historic Site re-opens to visitors today [October 17, 2013].Visitors can access public areas and roads immediately while facilities and other public services are brought back online.Ninety Six National Historic Site has been closed since October 1 due to the lapse in Congressional appropriations.

"We are excited happy to be back at work and welcome visitors to Ninety Six National Historic Site," said Superintendent John Slaughter. "Autumn is a particularly special season to enjoy all that Ninety Six has to offer."

The visitor center hours of operations are 9 AM – 4 PM, Wednesdays-Sundays.The visitor center will be closed on Mondays and Tuesday. Star Fort Pond is closed 9 AM Sundays – 9 AM Tuesdays. Park grounds are open dawn to dusk. Park gates lock at 5 PM.

Lt Col John Harris Cruger

The Loyalist commander at Ninety Six in 1781 was Lt Col. John Harris Cruger. He was originally from New York City & had under his command 550 men & only one British officer the rest were American born. You can view the Star Fort where Colonel Cruger commanded at Ninety Six National Historic Site.
