In commemoration of Memorial Day, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is presenting various events to honor our nation's fallen veterans. All programs are free and open to the public.

  • Veterans' uniform and memorabilia display- beginning Thursday, May 24, through Monday, May 28, 2012. The display is free and open to the public from 9 AM - 4 PM in the Battlefield's Visitor Center. Included are numerous uniforms and other memorabilia from World War I through Operation Iraqi Freedom. All of the uniforms and other items are identified with the veteran's name, branch of service, and when the veteran served; photographs of the veterans are included with most uniforms. Mr. Ken Myers is the owner/presenter of the display and has provided U.S. military displays in the Atlanta area for the past thirteen years. He will be present to answer any questions.

  • Artillery demonstrations will take place on Monday, May 27-28, at 11:00 AM, 12, 2 and 3:00 PM at the Visitor Center front battlefield area.

  • Kennesaw Mountain High School's NJROTC drill team will perform at 1 PM on May 28 in the Visitor Center front field.

  • As part of our Project Poppy program, visitors will also be able to purchase poppies in honor of a veteran for $1. The poppies are the handwork of local school children. All proceeds go to "Wreaths Across America," a nonprofit organization working to remember and honor fallen heroes who served through wreath laying ceremonies at national cemeteries.
