“An American Girl Afternoon

at Kennesaw Mountain”

On Sunday, October 14, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is hosting a program
called “An American Girl Afternoon.” Girls are invited to bring their American Girl dolls with them and listen to
a reading by a costumed interpreter from “Meet Addy,” an American Girl story chronicling enslaved Addy’s escape to freedom (boys are invited, too). There will fun activities and an American Girl reception for dolls and their girls to meet one another.

Activities will take place in the Visitor Center and will last for approximately one hour. There is no fee, but reservations are required. Please call 770-427-4686 x0 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to reserve your spot or respond by email to Benita_Duling@nps.gov. Please make your reservations by Monday, October 8, 2007.

Did You Know?

On a beautiful fall day, the colors of the trees make the deadliest part of Kennesaw Mountain battle look serene.

In the spring and summer of 1864, some of the most important events to effect the outcome of the Civil War occurred in North Georgia.  Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield commemorates these events, as well as preserving the battleground of Kennesaw Mountain.  The Mountain's history precedes the Civil War.
