Kenai Fjords National Park
Permits

Many activities in the Park require a permit such as:

  • Weddings
  • 1st Amendment Activities
  • Public Assemblies and Meetings
  • Scientific Research
  • Other Special Events (festivals, sporting events, etc.)

Applications for Special Use Permits should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the activity, more if the activity entails significant impacts to park operations.

A complete list of these activities can be found in the Superintendent's compendium.

Note:  All areas of the park are open to scattering of ashes without a permit.

Did You Know?
The Harding Icefield accumulates 400-800 inches of snow each year. It takes between 30-50 years for that snow to compress into glacial ice.
