Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore
NPCA Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Survey

"National Park, Regional Treasure" is a partnership project between National Parks Conservation Association, The Eppley Institute at Indiana University, The Field Museum of Chicago, and the National Park Service to open a meaningful dialog about the challenges and opportunities at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The strategic planning project is a call for ideas to improve the visitor experience, connect the park to surrounding communities and the Chicago area, and to enhance Indiana Dune's future as an iconic national park.

The success of this project is based on the input from people who love Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore! We hope you will take time to learn more about the project and add your thoughts about challenges at the park. Join us in plotting a course for the future of this tremendous regional resource and national treasure.

Close-up of flames burning a prairie

Did You Know?
Without fire, there could be no prairie at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Non-prairie plant species would crowd out native prairie grasses. These rare grasslands are maintained through periodic controlled burns.
