Where To Eat
While visiting Indiana Dunes you will find lots of restaurants in the area. The Lake, Porter, and LaPorte County visitor and tourism commissions have restaurant lists on their websites. Within the park boundaries there are no restaurants that have a view of Lake Michigan. 
 

Generally, you will find several local and chain restaurants located close to the exits of:

  • I-94 and Hwy. 51-Gary/Miller/Lake Station
  • I-94 and Hwy. 249-Portage
  • I-94 and Hwy. 20-Burns Harbor/Porter
  • I-94 and Hwy. 49-Porter/Chesterton, and, 
  • I-94 and Hwy. 421-Michigan City.

Within the local communities you will discover additional eateries.

You will find gas stations, restaurants, and convenience stores near the following Indiana Dunes parking areas.

  • Mount Baldy/Central Beach - three restaurants and two gas stations with convenience stores on Hwy. 12 between Mount Baldy and Hwy. 520 near or in the town of Pines. 
  • Lakeview, Kemil Beach, Dunewood Campground, Calumet Dune Interpretive Center 
    • one gas station and two convenience stores in the town of Beverly Shores on Hwy. 12, and,
    • one small restaurant on Hwy. 20, one mile east of Kemil Road. 
  • Cowles Bog, Park Headquarters, Bailly/Chellberg area 
    • one carry-out restaurant (open on weekdays only) on Hwy. 12, one mile west of Mineral Springs Road 
    • truck stops on Hwy. 20, 1 1/2 miles west of Mineral Springs Road, and,
    • one gas station with convenience store on Hwy. 20, one mile east of Mineral Springs Road.
  • Inland Marsh - one gas station with convenience store on Hwy. 12 just east of parking area.
  • West Beach
    • one seasonal restaurant, one mile south on County Line Road,
    • one gas station by Inland Marsh, two miles east on Hwy. 12, and, 
    • several restaurants and gas stations, 2 1/2 miles west on Hwy. 12 and 2 1/2 - 3 miles southwest on Highways 20 and 51.
  • Miller Woods & Paul H. Douglas Center - several stores, restaurants, and gas stations on Lake Street and Hwy. 20.

Did You Know?
“Century of Progress” homes at the 1933-1934 Chicago World’s Fair showcased innovative building materials and designs. In 1935, developer Robert Bartlett moved five of these houses to Beverly Shores. These homes are being restored.
