Alcohol Policy
All National Park Service (NPS) Buildings
All NPS buildings are closed to the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages, except during public assemblies and meetings when authorized by the Superintendent (excluding active reservation of use properties and NPS dormitory facilities).

West Beach
The West Beach Unit is closed to the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages. The West Beach Unit is defined as the area from County Line Road, east to the NPS boundary on the west side of Ogden Dunes and from the waters of Lake Michigan, south to Highway 12 (excluding active reservation of use properties).

Porter Beach Unit
The Porter Beach unit is closed to the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages. The Porter Beach unit is defined as the area west from the State Park boundary to Wabash Street and from the waters of Lake Michigan south to Roskin Road (excluding active reservation of use properties).

Dunewood Campground
The Dunewood Campground, associated public restrooms and shower facilities, registration building, outside theater, and adjoining hiking trails is closed to the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Did You Know?
Without fire, there could be no prairie at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Non-prairie plant species would crowd out native prairie grasses. These rare grasslands are maintained through periodic controlled burns.
