NPS/M. Smith Hot Springs National Park surrounds the north end of the city of Hot Springs with a population of nearly 40,000. Although some park boundaries are bordered by undeveloped forested lands, much of the park, and the thermal water recharge zone, is adjacent to city streets, highways, and homes. These areas are subject to high amounts of traffic, air pollution, non-source point pollution, invasive species, and trash. The park is dedicated to protecting the cultural and natural resources within our 5,500 acre boundary.
