Volunteers-in-Parks (VIPs) provide thousands of hours of service to improve the quality of local parks and help the National Park Service achieve its mission of preserving these resources for future generations. All volunteers must complete a Volunteer Services Agreement for Natural Resources Agencies Form (OF 301A) before beginning any work on the parkway. Cleanups Every year, volunteers remove hundreds of bags of garbage from parks on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Mount Vernon Trail Patrol Looking for a way to give back to the community while getting your exercise? The Mount Vernon Trail is one of the most heavily used trails in the National Park Service. Trail patrollers keep trail users and the park safe. Training is provided. Weed Warriors The National Park Service strives to restore and preserve the natural ecosystem. Weed Warriors remove non-native species that threaten native vegetation and wildlife. Training is provided.
