Rome, NY — Summer has arrived, the children are out of school, and people from around the world are visiting Fort Stanwix National Monument. Fort Stanwix released its July 2008 program and events calendar today. The park’s special event calendar has steadily expanded since the fort’s opening in 1976. This summer’s highlight will be the partnership between the National Park Service at Fort Stanwix and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at the Oriskany Battlefield and Steuben Memorial State Historic Sites.

"We are excited about this year’s events," said Debbie Conway, Superintendent of Fort Stanwix National Monument. "This summer our staff at Fort Stanwix will work shoulder to shoulder with New York State Park's employees presenting the nationally significant stories of what happened at these premier historic and memorial sites.
