"Make a Difference" is this year’s theme for the "School’s Out at the Fort" programs. As in past years, each of the six events will feature an activity and a take-home project that revolves around the purpose of that school break. "There are so many simple ways that we can make a difference in our own lives or the lives of someone else," says Park Ranger Valerie Morgan, "Come join us as we have fun along the way!"

Beginning in January, the programs include:

  • Monday, January 18 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Make a Difference, Make a Friend
  • Wednesday, February 17 – February Break – Make a Difference, Get Outside: General Washington’s Snow Army
  • Wednesday, April 21 – April Break – Make a Difference, Get Outside: Go Fly a Kite
  • Monday, May 31 – Memorial Day – Remembering Those Who Made a Difference
  • Monday, October 11 – Columbus Day –Discover How You Can Make A Difference!
  • Thursday, November 11 – Veteran’s Day – Make a Difference for Someone in the Military

The programs are free, and start at 1 p.m. and end at 2 p.m. in or around the Marinus Willett Center at the intersection of James St. and Erie Blvd. Children ages from 5 to 12 are encouraged to participate with their families.
