Let's honor and celebrate our shared home, planet Earth! Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future.

Let’s come together in our efforts to protect the Earth today and for generations to come. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create a more sustainable world!

A few of the environmental projects we are working on thanks to our amazing Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps (CCCC) interns:
  • We are making recycling efforts more easy for visitors and staff using a few methods. From new signs, and new lids to more recycling areas and more public education about recycling. This will allow recycling to be more available and more to be known.
  • Composting system for all the yard waste, and land scaping waste. Cleaning out invasives to make room for native plant life.
  • Over the last two years, interns from local universities have come to the Baltimore Area National Parks through the Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Units (CESU) Network and the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps (CCCC). Each intern trained the next in the workflows for mapping the trees, analyzing the data, and deriving meaning from the visual representation.
  • We began logging a greenhouse gas inventory and working on strides to make our carbon footprint less

Earth Day is also part of our annual National Park Week celebration! Join us on social media as we explore the earth sciences and stewardship. Share your Earth Day experiences and favorite memories with parks using #EarthDay and #NationalParkWeek.
