Watch the Living Flag Formation Live!

Over 7,000 school students donning red, white, and blue will create the Star-Spangled Banner Living Flag at Fort McHenry for the Bicentennial of the writing of the "Star-Spangled Banner!" Like their predecessors during the Centennial in 1914, students will literally be making history as part of the Star-Spangled Banner. Pvt. William Williams, U.S. Artillery

Pvt. William Williams, a run-away slave, joined the U.S. Artillery and defended Fort McHenry. He was severely wounded during the battle and died two weeks later.
