The Fire Island Lighthouse tower is now open for tours after several months of restoration work. The William Floyd Estate and the Wilderness Visitor Center have reopened as well, following the recent federal government shutdown. Fire Island National Seashore staff and partners welcome visitors back to the park. "We invite you to participate in a variety of scheduled fall programs," said Superintendent Chris Soller, "or to explore the Seashore on your own and at your own pace."

The Fire Island Lighthouse is open Noon - 4 pm daily through mid-December, then weekends only through March 2014. Last tower tour 1 hour before closing. The facility is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The William Floyd Estate is open Friday through Sunday, 9 am - 5 pm, through November 11, 2013. Old Mastic House tours are available 10 am - 4 pm, when the Estate is open.

The Wilderness Visitor Center is open Friday through Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. Waterfowl hunting permits and recreational driving permits for fishing are available for purchase there.

Facilities at Sailors Haven, Watch Hill and Barrett Beach/Talisman are now closed for the season.
